TRAINING GUARDS IN THE TECHNIQUES OF BEHAVIOR AND CLIENT-CENTERED THERAPY CAN NOT BE SUCCESSFUL UNLESS THE ORGANIZATION OF THE PRISON IS ALTERED TO AUTHORIZE STAFF TO MAKE INDEPENDENT DECISIONS IN TREATMENT MATTERS.
Abstract
PRISON GUARDS ARE MORE INTERESTED IN MODIFYING PRISONER BEHAVIOR THAT LEADS TO DISTURBANCES THAN THEY ARE IN ASSISTING PRISONERS IN ACHIEVING SOCIAL REHABILITATION. TRAINING PROGRAMS MUST ALSO CONSIDER THE PROBLEMS INHERENT IN THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN GUARD AND INMATE SUBCULTURES. --IN GERMAN
