TWO INSTITUTES IN THE PROBATION DEPARTMENT WERE HELD DURING CHRISTMAS AND EASTER RECESS 1966, TO ENCOURAGE COLLEGE STUDENTS TO CONSIDER CORRECTIONS AS A CAREER.
Abstract
THE REPORT SERVES AS A MODEL FOR SHORT SESSIONS ORGANIZED AND ADMINISTERED BY LOCAL CORRECTIONAL AGENCIES FOR THE BENEFIT OF COLLEGE STUDENTS DURING RECESS TO AID RECRUITMENT TO THE CORRECTIONS FIELD. IT CONSIDERS PREREQUISITIES FOR SUCH AN INSTITUTE, - FUNDS, STAFF AND EQUIPMENT, AND THE PRAGMATIC DIFFICULTIES OF RECRUITING STUDENTS AND THE PREPARATION OF A PROGRAM. INCLUDED IS A SUGGESTED THREE DAY PROGRAM, AT THE COMPLETION OF WHICH A CERTIFICATE OF TRAINING IS AWARDED. THE APPENDIX LISTS THE NAMES OF VARIOUS FILMS ON CORRECTIONS AND HOW TO OBTAIN THEM FOR USE IN THE PROGRAM.
