This draft environmental impact report addresses environmental impacts and mitigation measures for both a proposed security level I/II prison and a security level III prison at two sites in Amador County, Calif.
Abstract
The June 1984 final environmental impact report for a proposed level I/II prison at the lower State-owned site was rescinded on September 5, 1984. The present draft report responds to the reasons for rescinding the previous final report, i.e., reexaminations of the sewage disposal mitigation measures and water supply provisions and consideration of construction environmental impacts at both the lower State-owned site and the Mule Creek site. For each site and security level, the report discusses impacts and mitigation measures in the areas of geology, topography, hydrology, vegetation, land use, housing and schools in surrounding communities, transportation and traffic circulation, noise, courts, law enforcement, water supply, wastewater treatment and disposal, reclaimed wastewater, visual quality, and archaeological and historical resources. Appendixes contain the notice of preparation, the initial environmental study, and reconnaissance reports on plant and wildlife as well as the historical/archaeological impact. Also provided are comments from reviewers of the draft, responses to those comments, and a distribution list for the final report.
