RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE 1971 GENERAL SESSION OF THE LEGISLATURE FOR AMENDMENT OF CERTAIN LAWS RELATING TO PRACTICE AND PROCEDURES, AND A STATISTICAL AND NARRATIVE REPORT OF CALIFORNIA COURT ACTIVITIES.
Abstract
CONSTITUTIONAL AND STATUTORY PROVISIONS FOR THE JUDICIAL COUNCIL, A LIST OF MEMBERS OF THE JUDICIAL COUNCIL, AND JUDICIAL COUNCIL COMMITTEES ARE PRESENTED. THE JUDICIAL COUNCIL REPORT INCLUDES RECOMMENDED MODIFICATIONS OF PROCEDURE FOR TRANSFER OF CRIMINAL CASES AND THE SEALING OF CRIMINAL TRANSCRIPTS BEFORE TRIAL. ALSO INCLUDED IS A STUDY OF POSTCONVICTION PROCEDURES IN CALIFORNIA. THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE REPORT PRESENTS GENERAL REPORTS DEALING WITH SUCH TOPICS AS CHANGES IN CALIFORNIA RULES OF COURT DURING 1970, JUDICIAL REDISTRICTING, JUDICIAL COURT QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS CONCERNING BRANCH COURT SESSIONS OF SUPERIOR COURTS. STATISTICS ON SUCH AREAS AS FILINGS, APPEALS, DISPOSITIONS, BACKLOG, DELAY, JURIES, AND CASELOADS ARE PROVIDED FOR THE SUPREME COURT, COURTS OF APPEAL, SUPERIOR COURTS, MUNICIPAL COURTS, AND JUSTICE COURTS.
