REPORT CONCERNED WITH THE 4,162 WARDS WITH INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAM ASSIGNMENTS, AND WITH THE PROPORTIONS OF THESE CASES DESIGNATED AS BOARD REFERRAL OR CONTINUANCE.
Abstract
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO TYPES OF ACTIONS IS ESSENTIALLY ONE OF SETTING THE PAROLE REFERRAL RESPONSIBILITY. A WARD DESIGNATED AS A BOARD REFERRAL MAY BE BROUGHT BEFORE THE BOARD FOR CONSIDERATION OF PAROLE PLANS AT A POINT DETERMINED BY INSTITUTIONAL STAFF. A WARD GIVEN A CONTINUANCE HAS A SET LENGTH OF STAY ESTABLISHED BY THE BOARD AND IS NOT NORMALLY REFERRED FOR PAROLE BEFORE THAT TIME. IN THE EVENT OF CONTINUANCES OF LONGER THAN ONE YEAR, THE CASES ARE REVIEWED ANNUALLY.
