REJECTING THE NOTION THAT MAKING DRUG STORE THEFTS A FEDERAL CRIME HAS REDUCED OR WILL REDUCE THESE THEFTS, THE AUTHOR RECOMMENDS THAT STORE OWNERS TAKE SECURITY MEASURES IF THEIR LOSSES EXCEED 3 PERCENT PER ANNUM.
Abstract
THE TYPES OF ITEMS STOLEN FROM DRUG STORES ARE DISCUSSED AND THE PERCENTAGES OF DIFFERENT ITEMS THAT ARE STOLEN ARE GIVEN. A PILOT PROJECT OF THE DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION IN ST. LOUIS (MO) IS DESCRIBED IN WHICH ALL THE DRUG STORES IN THE ST. LOUIS AREA WERE VISITED AND GIVEN SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO IMPROVE STORE SECURITY. SEMINARS WERE ALSO SET UP TO EDUCATE DRUG STORE OWNERS.
