Abstract
THE DELIBERATIONS OF THREE MAJOR CONFERENCES CONVENED FOR THE PURPOSE OF DESCRIBING DATA USERS, USES AND NEEDS, INCLUDES THE DETAILED LIST OF DESIRED DATA ITEMS IDENTIFIED BY CONFERENCE ATTENDEES. A PROGRAM OF PREPARATORY AND EXPERIMENTAL WORK WHICH COULD BE UNDERTAKEN AT THE INCEPTION OF A CRIMINAL JUSTICE STATISTICS PROGRAM, AND LONG RANGE RESEARCH EFFORTS TO RESOLVE SOME OF THE MOST SERIOUS CONCEPTUAL AND METHODOLOGICAL PROBLEMS INVOLVED IN CREATING A COMPREHENSIVE STATISTICS PROGRAM ARE DESCRIBED.
