Relevant data and important developments occurring in 1978 in the British Columbia Corrections Branch (Canada) are presented in this annual report.
          Abstract
Major priorities of the Corrections Branch include upgrading or replacement of facilities for those remanded in custody awaiting trial or disposition, replacement and upgrading of facilities for sentenced inmates, and adequate housing for those given intermittent sentences. 1978 was the first year of implementation of a major reoganization of the management structures of the Corrections Branch. In addition, considerable management training was undertaken to assist directors with their new responsibilities within the new organization. Narrative description and statistics are presented for major programs, activities, policies, and practices of the Branch in 1978 for both its regional and provincial operations. Information is provided on youth, adult, family and children's services, and management and operational services. Appendixes describe the branch's goals and objectives, list its regional operations, and illustrate regional headquarters on a map.
