This study sought to adapt the Italian version of the Tromso Social Intelligence Scale (TSIS-IV) to the adolescent population.
Abstract
The analysis revealed the same three-factor structure of the original scale measuring social information processing, social skills, and social awareness. The data also indicated good reliability for the subscales and confirmed they are reasonably free of social desirability response bias. As such, the author recommends that the TSIS-IV can be reliably used with adolescents. Participants were 320 Italian adolescents who were randomly selected from all the high schools located in 5 different Italian cities. Participants completed both the TSIS-IV and the Social Desirability Scale. Internal reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficients. Follow-up studies should assess the convergent and discriminant validity of the new measure. Tables, references
