The Illinois Department of Corrections received Federal funding to provide a single story pre-manufactured metal building of approximately 4,260 square feet for use as a female dormitory at the Dixon Springs Boot Camp, to renovate an existing multipurpose building to add new classroom areas, and to replace site lighting at several locations throughout the boot camp facility.
Abstract
The dormitory includes a sleeping area, toilets, showers, laundry facility, mechanical/housekeeping spaces, a control desk, and a storage room. The dormitory's exterior walls and roof are constructed of metal siding panels on purlins mounted to the structural stem frame. The floors are exposed concrete slab with ceramic tile in the shower and toilet rooms. The dormitory's interior walls are constructed of concrete masonry units with structural glazed tile base. Ceilings throughout are suspended gypsum board, and heating system is provided by a by gas-fired force air heating system. The work at the multipurpose building includes new partitions in the gymnasium to provide three new classrooms. Floors are finished with carpet, and ceilings are suspended gypsum board. Site lighting improvements include replacing several existing high-pressure sodium wall packs and pole-mounted mercury vapor lighting fixtures with new high- pressure sodium lighting fixtures. Boot camp improvements are illustrated, and cost data are provided.
