THE PROCESSING OF 25 ROBBERY AND 61 BURGLARY ARRESTEES THROUGH THE LEGAL SYSTEM OF BONNEVILLE COUNTY, IDAHO, IS TRACED IN A REPORT BY THE IDAHO LAW ENFORCEMENT PLANNING COMMISSION'S STATISTICAL ANALYSIS CENTER.
Abstract
SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS DEPICT THE FLOW OF ROBBERY AND BURGLARY CASES THROUGH THE STAGES OF THE LEGAL PROCESS, NOTING THE PERCENTAGE OF CASES DISPOSED OF AT EACH DECISION POINT. A NARRATIVE ACCOUNT OF THE CASE FLOW COVERS THE STATUS OF ARRESTEES RELATIVE TO PRETRIAL RELEASE, PROSECUTION, DISPOSITION, AND SENTENCING. ALL 16 OF THE ROBBERY ARRESTEES WHO WERE PROSECUTED WERE CONVICTED; 9 WERE COMMITTED TO STATE PRISON. OF THE 44 BURGLARY ARRESTEES WHO WERE PROSECUTED, 33 WERE CONVICTED AND 3 WERE COMMITTED TO STATE PRISON. A TIME FRAME ANALYSIS SHOWS THAT THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF DAYS FROM ARREST TO DISPOSITION WAS 61.7 FOR ROBBERY (EXCLUSIVE OF THREE CASES THAT DISTORTED THE AVERAGE) AND 68.8 FOR BURGLARY. SUPPORTING DATA ARE INCLUDED. (LKM)
