Grantees under the Federal Intellectual Property (IP) Enforcement Program supply data on their achievements and performance for the period April-September 2015 in this Biannual Grantee Feedback Report.
Abstract
The goals of the IP Enforcement Program grants are to establish or expand existing IP task forces to include State, local, or tribal law enforcement agencies; to exclusively conduct forensic analyses of evidence and conduct prosecutions in IP theft cases; to educate the general public and businesses about violations of IP laws; and to acquire and implement technology that facilitates investigations and forensic analyses in IP-theft cases. Data from grantees indicate that from April through September 2014, 260 people were arrested for violations of IP laws, a decrease of 9 percent from the same period last year. A total of 80 State and local IP search warrants were served, the same as last year. Seventy-nine piracy/counterfeiting organizations were disrupted, and 73 were dismantled, a decrease of 46 percent and 45 percent, respectively, from last year. A total of $49,594,688 in counterfeit property, other property, and currency enforcement was seized during enforcement operations, a 24-percent decrease compared to last year. Also reported are the nature and volume of training and technical assistance information provided to improve outcomes. 4 tables, 1 figure, and lists of upcoming training events and resources
