This report presents 1982 accomplishments and reviews the 60 years of work of the Better Government Association (BGA), an independent, nonprofit organization established to investigate waste, corruption, and inefficiency in government.
Abstract
BGA investigations bearing upon nursing home and public housing reform in Illinois are reported. Other case studies reported involve the redevelopment of Chicago's North Loop, improper city financial support for city festivals, lavish spending of Government funds by Veterans Administration Chief Robert Nimmo, and abuse in military spending. Also included are a financial report, a legal report, and a report on the BGA law student intern program.
