KEYED TO A VIDEOCASSETTE TAPE AND TO AN INSTRUCTOR'S MANUAL ACCOMPANYING THE VIDEOCASSETTE TAPE, THIS WORKBOOK CONTAINS SUGGESTIONS ON HOW ONE MAY COMPILE AND ANALYZE CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND ARREST DATA. INTENDED FOR POLICE PERSONNEL INVOLVED IN MANPOWER ALLOCATION, SUPERVISION, BUDGET PREPARATION, PLANNING, AND CRIME PREVENTION, IN ADDITION TO LAW ENFORCEMENT STUDENTS, THE WORKBOOK ALSO WILL BE USEFUL TO PERSONNEL WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR INTERPRETING THE OREGON UNIFORM CRIME REPORT (OUCR) COMPUTER PRINTOUTS. THIS WORKBOOK ALSO EXPLAINS SEVERAL TYPES OF BASIC CALCULATIONS, GRAPHICS, AND ILLUSTRATIONS USEFUL IN CRIME ANALYSIS, AND PROVIDES A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE TYPES OF ANALYSIS AND THE RELATIONSHIP WHICH ANALYSIS HAS WITH PLANNING AND DECISIONMAKING. STUDENTS' EXERCISES AND A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF SEVEN REFERENCES ARE INCLUDED. SEVEN APPENDIXES GIVE FORMS FOR MATHEMATICAL CALCULATIONS, GRAPHICS FORMS, SAMPLE ANALYSIS FORMS, ANSWERS TO EXERCISES, A SAMPLE OUCR COMPUTER PRINTOUT, OUCR DEFINITIONS, AND A LIST OF DATA SOURCES.
