THIS REPORT PRESENTS THE CURRENT AND FUTURE REQUIREMENTS FOR A COUNTY-CITY DETENTION FACILITY, CORRECTIONAL PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES, FACILITY STAFFING, AND FACILITY SITE.
Abstract
FUTURE REQUIREMENTS ARE PROJECTED FOR A 25 YEAR PERIOD (1972-1995). A FURTHER GOAL OF THIS PROJECT WAS TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF A REGIONAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY LOCATED IN BARREN COUNTY (KY) THAT WOULD ALSO SERVE THE CONTIGUOUS COUNTIES OF EDMONSON, HART, MONROE, AND METCALFE. THIS REPORT DOES NOT ESTABLISH EXACT, PRECISE STEPS, BUT DOES PROVIDE A SOURCE OF REFERENCE FOR ACHIEVING THE CORRECTIONAL GOALS AND PROGRESSING TO THE FACILITY CONSTRUCTION PHASE. THIS REPORT INCLUDES, AMONG OTHER THINGS, POPULATION DATA ON BARREN COUNTY, A DISCUSSION OF THE REGIONAL FACILITY CONCEPT AND DATA ON JAIL POPULATION AND BOOKINGS. RECOMMENDATIONS ON BARREN COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY STAFFING, LOCATIONS FOR A NEW CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN ARE PROVIDED. CONSTRUCTION COST ESTIMATES ARE ALSO INCLUDED.
