              This report presents statistics on crimes against federally insured financial institutions for January 1, 2006, through December 31, 2006.
          Abstract
              Data on violations of the Federal Bank Robbery and Incidental Crimes statute show violations by type of institution; loot taken and recovered; number, race, and sex of perpetrators; occurrences by day of week and time of day; institution/community characteristics; security devices maintained by victim institutions; security devices used during the crimes; security devices that functioned; criminal methods used; and injuries, deaths, and hostages taken. Similar data are reported on bank extortion violations that were investigated under the Federal Bank Robbery and Incidental Crimes statute. Data on the number of bank robberies, burglaries, larcenies, and extortions are presented by regions, geographic divisions, States, and Territories. The concluding section of the report presents data on crimes that involved armored carriers investigated under the Hobbs Act. Data cover the number of armored carrier incidents (n=37); loot taken and recovered; number, race, and sex of perpetrators; occurrences by day of the week and times of day; community characteristics; criminal methods used; and injuries, deaths, and hostages taken.
