COMPUTERIZATION OF A COURT SYSTEM, INVOLVING ITS CALENDARING AND RECORD KEEPING, IS THE BASIS OF THIS STUDY.
Abstract
USING FLOW CHARTS, DIAGRAMS, AND WRITTEN EXPLANATION, THIS REPORT PRESCRIBES AN AUTOMATED PROCEDURE FOR KEEPING TRACK OF A CASE FROM ARREST THROUGH DISPOSITION, THEREBY ELIMINATING LONG HOURS OF MANUAL CLERICAL PROCESSING. THIS REPORT SHOWS HOW AN AUTOMATED COURT SYSTEM IS DIVIDED INTO SEVERAL FUNCTIONS, INCLUDING CASE FOLLOWING, CALENDARING, AND SUBPOENAING. COMPUTERIZATION CAN PROVIDE QUICKER IDENTIFICATION OF WITNESSES FOR EACH SIDE; IMMEDIATE UPDATE ON A CASE; AND FASTER NOTIFICATION ON CASES REFERRED TO PROBATION. SPECIFIC PROPOSALS ARE GIVEN FOR DATA COLLECTION, LOADING, INDEXING, AND THE CODING FOR THESE FUNCTIONS. THE AUTOMATED OPERATION WAS DESIGNED FOR AN IBM 370/158, IMS/VS SYSTEM....BS SAN BERNADINO
