THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE AUSTIN, TEXAS POLICE DEPARTMENT SHOWS A 5 PERCENT INCREASE IN TOTAL INDEX CRIMES, IDENTIFIES AGENCY RESOURCES, SPECIFIC TASKS, AND SERVICES, AND CHARTS DEPARTMENT ORGANIZATION.
Abstract
BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS FOR 1978-79 ARE DISCLOSED, AND IN CHART FORM THE WORK OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS OUTLINED. THE 744-MEMBER DEPARTMENT REPORTS YEARLY STATISTICS ON OFFENSES BY TYPE, AGE AND RACE OF OFFENDER, AND BY SECTOR AND DIVISION. TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS ARE DETAILED IN STATISTICS AS ARE UNIT CLEARANCES, WARRANTS, ARRESTS, AND OTHER DATA. THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DIVISION HANDLED THEFT OFFENSES, OFFENSES AGAINST PERSONS, BURGLARIES, AND OTHER PROPERTY LOSSES. OTHER DETAILS OF POLICY WORK, INCLUDING COMMUNITY SERVICES, ARE LISTED.
