POLICE RECRUITS AND SENIOR OFFICERS POSSESS A HIGHER DEGREE OF SOCIAL SKILL THAN DO CONSTABLES WITH EIGHT OR MORE YEARS EXPERIENCE, ACCORDING TO THIS ENGLISH STUDY.
Abstract
OFFICERS WITH DIFFERENT LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE WERE GIVEN THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE TEST. THE RESULTS SEEMED TO POINT TO A DEFINITE TRAINING NEED FOR CAREER CONSTABLES OR TO THE POSSIBILITY THAT THOSE OFFICERS WHO ADVANCED IN RANK HAD THE SOCIAL SKILLS THAT THOSE UNPROMOTED OFFICERS LACKED.
