This report presents data on Arkansas crime trends for the period 1990-1999.
Abstract
The report is based on summary information submitted by law enforcement agencies as part of the Arkansas Uniform Crime Reporting program. It analyzes and compares data from the years 1990 and 1999, with emphasis on crime index offenses. These offenses include four violent crime offenses (murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault) as well as four property crime offenses (burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson). Each of the offenses was selected because of its serious nature, frequency of occurrence, and reliability of reporting from citizens to law enforcement agencies. In addition, the report contains data on adult and juvenile arrests; drug arrests; total arrests; distribution of arrests; race and sex of persons arrested; and stolen property. The report is intended to aid law enforcement agencies, government officials, educators and the general public in better understanding the crimes, as well as their demographic characteristics, that occur throughout the State.
