Abstract
An organizational chart delineates the structure of the judicial department. The administrative director's summary report precedes an explanation of the judicial branch of government in Arizona. Reports of the activities of the Judicial Planning Committee, State aid for probation services, foster care review boards, and family counseling programs are included. Also presented are activities relating to judicial education, the State grand jury, and special court projects, including Pima County pretrial release, Tucson City court-recorded proceedings, and Maricopa County Superior Court-civil trial delay reduction projects. Statistics are given on court caseloads and judicial expenditures and on the supreme court, court of appeals (divisions 1 and 2), superior court, justices of the peace courts, municipal courts, and Superior Courts of Graham and Greenlee Counties for 1912-1978. Tables, graphs, and pie charts are included. The Arizona constitution and lists of members of the various courts and commissions are appended.
