A statewide survey of agencies providing services to crime victims in Arizona formed the basis of an analysis of the needs for victim services in the State.
Abstract
Forty-eight of the 112 agencies responded to the mailed survey, which was initiated in September 1987. Findings showed that minimal services are not yet available statewide. Although several counties have begun providing services since the survey took place, service delivery in Arizona is still at a rudimentary stage. Three levels of service exist: those providing information and referral only, those providing crisis intervention as well, and those providing comprehensive support as well as specialized services. The survey results indicate the need for a State office for victim services, development of basic programs in areas lacking them, targeting of funding increases to programs that serve all crime victims, and development of service standards. Tables and appended survey instrument, descriptions of service models and services, and profiles of services in each of 13 counties.
