TESTING OF AN ADAPTED SCALE MEASURING SELF-ESTEEM WHICH MIGHT BE USED IN PREDICTING POST-INSTITUTIONAL ADJUSTMENT OF FORMER INMATES.
Abstract
RELIABILITY MEASURES WERE COMPUTED AND FOUND TO BE SATISFACTORY. THE SCALE ALSO SEEMS TO PROVIDE A SPREAD OF SCORES DISTRIBUTED IN A RELATIVELY NORMAL MANNER. THE SCALE HAS A LOW RELATIONSHIP WITH AGE, INTELLIGENCE, AND SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS. A MODERATE RELATIONSHIP TO TESTED GRADE LEVEL WAS FOUND, WHILE THE RELATIONSHIP TO CLAIMED LEVEL OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT REACHED STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE. IN GENERAL, THE SCALE WAS SEEN AS AN ADEQUATE TOOL TO USE IN FUTHER STUDIES. AUTHOR ABSTRACT
