BASIC OPERATIONS RESEARCH TECHNIQUES USED IN BUILDING MODELS FOR OPTIMIZATION PROBLEMS ARE DISCUSSED, AS WELL AS SOME OF THE DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED IN APPLYING THESE TECHNIQUES TO ADDRESS CORRECTION PROBLEMS.
Abstract
POTENTIAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM APPLICATIONS FOR THESE METHODS ARE INDICATED. ALSO REVIEWED ARE FOUR DIFFERENT CORRECTIONAL PROJECTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING UNDERTAKEN BY THE PENNSYLVANIA BUREAU OF CORRECTION. MOST OF THESE PROJECTS USE LINEAR PROGRAMMING AND INTEGER LINEAR PROGRAMMING METHODS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
