APPROPRIATE TESTS PROCEDURE WILL REDUCE MANPOWER LOSSES AND TURNOVER IN TRAINING CLASSES AND ON THE POLICE FORCE.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR NOTES THAT MOST CURRENT SCREENING PROCESSES ARE INEFFICIENT AND COSTLY TO POLICE DEPARTMENTS IN TERMS OF TRAINING COSTS. THE OHIO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL'S NEW PERSONALITY TEST REDUCED RECRUIT CLASS LOSSES TO LESS THAN TEN PERCENT BY MEASURING RESTRAINT, RESPONSIBILITY, NURTURANCE, INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS, DEFERENCE, AND THE THEORETICAL CAPABILITIES OF RECRUITS.
