During 1990, 81 male and female inmates escaped from correctional institutions and camps in California, for a rate of 0.09 percent per 100 average daily population.
Abstract
In addition, 1,324 escapes occurred from community- based facilities, for a rate of 7.7 percent for the population at risk and a decline from 9.5 percent in 1989. Forty-six inmates attempted to escape, an increase from 44 in 1989. Male escapes continued to decrease from the past, with a rate of 0.02 percent for institutions and 1.76 percent for the camps.
