The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Autority's 1984 audit addresses several aspects of the Computerized Criminal History (CCH) system data base, including the impact of partially automated records, correspondence of CCH-complete records with those of other information systems, and data security.
Abstract
A major finding was the pervasive lack of documentation of policies and procedures. CCH-incomplete records continued to represent more than 50 percent of the entire CCH data base. In addition, production of manual transcripts represented a small, but consistent percentage of responses to requests for information. Missing court dispositions continued to be a problem. While no serious breach of security has occurred, the audit revealed shortcomings in access control and building security.
