Abstract
A PAPER IS INCLUDED ENTITLED, 'AN ANALYTICAL AND EMPIRICAL STUDY OF THE RECIDIVISM PROCESS'. THIS WORK DEMONSTRATES THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO APPROXIMATE THE TOTAL ARRESTS BASED ON REPORTED DATA FROM UNIFORM CRIME REPORTS FROM A CURVE OF VIRGIN ARRESTS GENERATED BY ESTIMATING A SINGLE VALUE OF THE PROBABILITY OF FIRST ARREST FOR EVERY AGE CATEGORY, WHILE RECOGNIZING ONLY THE POPULATION CHANGES BY AGE OVER THE PERIOD 1930 TO 1970.
