THIS STUDY WAS DESIGNED TO TEST WHETHER A QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION OF IMPURITIES OF ORIGIN AND MANUFACTURE TOGETHER WITH A DETERMINATION OF ADUCTERANTS, MAY PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE ILLEGAL DRUG TRAFFIC.
Abstract
THE RATIO HEROIN: 6-MONOACETYLMORPHINE: MORPHINE (HMM) OF 32 BLACK MARKET HEROIN SAMPLES, TOGETHER WITH A NUMBER OF COMMON ADULTERANTS, WAS DETERMINED BY GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY WITH THE PURPOSE OF TRACING HEROIN SAMPLES WITH THE SAME HMM RATIO, IN ORDER TO GET INFORMATION ABOUT A POSSIBLE COMMON SOURCE AND HEROIN SAMPLES WITH THE SAME COMPOSITION AS FAR AS ADULTERANTS WERE CONCERNED, IN ORDER TO FIND OUT SHETHER THEY HAD PASSED THE SAME CHAIN OF DEALERS. ON THE STRENGTH OF THE RESULTS OF THE ANALYSES RESEARCHERS INDICATED THAT IT SEEMS TO BE POSSIBLE TO DRAW CONCLUSIONS ABOUT THE COMMON ORIGIN OR COMMON TRADE ROUTE OF DIFFERENT SAMPLES.
