In this second of a two volume set, exercises are provided to provide program planning groups the opportunity to practice a 6-step planning process designed to improve community criminal justice and human services delivery that provide alternatives to incarceration.
Abstract
Exercises should be completed by each planning group subcommittee at the end of each planning step and be discussed and finalized by the entire working committee. Exercises cover the identification of community issues and planning goals, development of data collection and analysis plans, identification of information needs and sources, determination of methods of data analysis and collection, interpretation of findings, and formulation of policy statements. Others cover development of procedures and an action plan and the development of a monitoring schedule and evaluation framework. A supplemental reading list provides annotated citations divided into 10 topical areas: community corrections, financial analysis, jail overcrowding, mental health, planning methodology, programs and program evaluation, research and evaluation, standards, and State and local level planning and legislation. See NCJ-115902 for Volume 1.
