DESCRIPTION OF THIS POLICE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM IMPLEMENTED IN 1968 TO INCREASE THE EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN WESTERN MISSOURI AND EASTERN KANSAS.
Abstract
THE TYPE OF INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS SYSTEM INCLUDES OUTSTANDING NARRANTS AND POLICE PICKUP ORDERS, ABSTRACT DATA RELATED TO CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS, PAROLE STATUS, PENITENTIARY RELEASE, ETC., AND PERSONS KNOWN TO HAVE BEEN ARMED, CONSIDERED DANGEROUS, OR THOSE WHO HAVE RESISTED ARREST. THIS SYSTEM, WHICH IS INTERCONNECTED WITH THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION COMPUTER IN WASHINGTON AND THE MISSOURI UNIFORM LAW ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM, IS ALSO CAPABLE OF TRANSMITTING 'ALL POINTS BULLETINS'. RECORDS INDICATE THAT SINCE THE SYSTEM WAS IMPLEMENTED, THE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION HAS INCREASED 400 PER CENT. FUTURE USES OF THE ALERT TWO COMPUTER SYSTEM ARE ALSO DISCUSSED.
