AN EXPLORATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL ON THE PATTERN OF CRIME, AND A STUDY OF METHODS WHEREBY CHANGES IN THE INFLUENCE MAY BE MEASURED WITH AN APPROACH TO SCIENTIFIC ACCURACY AND OBJECTIVITY.
Abstract
THIS STUDY REPORTS ON A SURVEY OF OFFENSES COMMITTED DURING PARTS OF 1974 AND 1975 AT LUTON AND DUNSTABLE (ENGLAND) IN WHICH THE OFFENDERS EITHER WERE OR WERE NOT REPORTED BY THE POLICE TO HAVE CONSUMED ALCOHOL. IT WAS FOUND THAT ABOUT THREE TIMES MORE OFFENDERS HAD CONSUMED ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES EITHER BEFORE OR DURING THE COMMISSION OF THEIR CRIMES THAN THOSE WHO HAD NOT.
