This report describes the organization and operations of the Alaska Court System during the fiscal year that began July 1, 1990 and ended June 30, 1992.
Abstract
The court system serves a geographical area of 586,413 square miles and has a total of 15 combined superior and district court locations and 44 district courts. The judges include five supreme court judges, three court of appeals judges, 30 superior court judges, 17 district court judges, and 41 magistrates. The annual budget for fiscal year 1992 was more than $43 million, a 3.4-percent increase over fiscal year 1991. More than 130,000 cases were filed, and almost that many were decided.
