This is a study of women's homicide events. It examines the extent to which the age of the offender is related to the patterning of the number and race of offenders, the age, gender, race, and number of victims and accomplices, the presence of a concurrent felony, and the cause of death.
Abstract
The homicides committed by 294 women in Baltimore City from 1974 through 1986 are examined. The findings indicate that the offender's age differentiates among women's homicides showing relatively the same patterns as are found in studies of men offenders. Most notably, the youthful offenders are disproportionately associated with multiple offenders, concurrent felony homicides, and the attendant features of such homicides. Other age-related patterns are described as well. 8 notes, 5 tables, 1 figure, 46 references. (Author abstract)
