Abstract
THIS WORK PROVIDES THE READER WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM AND STRESSES THE POINT THAT THE MORE KNOWLEDGE THE PROFESSIONAL HAS THE MORE EFFECTIVE HE WILL BE IN TAKING APPROPRIATE AND TIMELY ACTION TO PREVENT YOUTH SUICIDES. THE VARIOUS SUICIDAL TYPES ARE DELINEATED AND SPECIFIC CASE HISTORIES ARE COVERED AS EXAMPLES. CLUES TO BE UTILIZED IN THE RECOGNITION OF A POTENTIAL SUICIDE ARE DISCUSSED ALONG WITH A MEANS FOR EVALUATING AND ANALYZING THE SITUATION ONCE AN ATTEMPT AT SUICIDE HAS BEEN MADE. THE BOOK CONCLUDES WITH A SECTION ON ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF SUICIDAL BEHAVIOR. (SNI ABSTRACT)
