Abstract
Admissions were up 43 percent, from 244 to 350, for the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility and were down 33 percent, from 139 to 93, for youth facilities. The Juvenile Complex stayed the same at 314. Resident counts increased by 7 percent between 1993 and 1994, from 22,251 to 23,744, for the adult jurisdictional population. Resident counts rose by 7 percent, from 22,816 to 24,390, for all institutions; by 5 percent, from 13,864 to 14,557 for the prison; by 5 percent, from 4,688 to 4,909, for youth facilities; and by 11 percent, from 553 to 612, for juvenile facilities. Admissions included commitments, parole returns for technical violations, and prison and correctional returns from escapes. Residents included inmates in institutions and on furlough on the last day of the reporting period. Detailed data are tabulated on resident counts at specific correctional institutions, resident counts by custody level, and parole releases.
