Abstract
Chapters cover the development of the philosophy of criminal justice; the nature, causes, and scope of crime; the criminal justice system; the criminal justice process; and roles and career opportunities in the agencies. Other topics include police operation, role expectation, the courts subsystem, the Constitution and law enforcement, and the corrections subsystem. Career and service development, the changing roles of minorities and women, and developments in law enforcement are also covered. Additional questions relate to developments in the courts and in corrections. Questions include essay, true-false, and multiple-choice, and answers are provided for each question. A prefatory note provides a brief explanation of supplemental materials and boxed articles.
