THIS REPORT ON THE ARTC PROGRAM DEALS WITH A SURVEY OF COMMUNITY ATTITUDES AND A METHOD SET UP TO MONITOR PATIENTS ACCEPTED INTO THE EXPERIMENT.
Abstract
MEMBERS OF THE BEDFORD STUYVESANT COMMUNITY, IN BROOKLYN WHERE ARTC IS LOCATED, WERE SURVEYED ON THEIR ATTITUDES TOWARD CRIME AND ADDICTION. TWO CONTROL GROUPS USING METHADONE WERE PLACED IN SEPARATE FACILITIES. ONE GROUP OF PATIENTS WAS PROVIDED WITH SOCIAL SERVICES WHILE THESE SERVICES WERE WITHHELD FROM THE OTHER GROUP FOR COMPARISON. A COMPUTERIZED RECORD ON EACH PATIENT'S PROFILE IS PROVIDED.
