AGENCIES CONDUCTING DRUG-RELATED ACTIVITIES, TYPES OF ACTIVITIES, RELATIONSHIPS AMONG THESE AGENCIES, DRUG ABUSER DISTRIBUTION, AND DRUGS MOST FREQUENTLY ABUSED.
Abstract
THE THIRTY-FIVE AGENCIES LISTED IN THIS REPORT WERE SURVEYED THROUGH QUESTIONNAIRES AS WERE LOCAL PHYSICIANS AND MINISTERS. RESPONSE RATES FROM DOCTORS AND MINISTERS WERE LOW. THE SURVEY SHOWED THAT MOST DRUG ABUSERS SOUGHT HELP FROM AGENCIES RATHER THAN PRIVATE PHYSICIANS OR MINISTERS. ALCOHOL ABUSERS REPORTED SEEKING HELP ARE PREDOMINANTLY WHITE, MALE, AND OVER 26 YEARS OLD. OTHER DRUG ABUSERS ARE MORE HEAVILY BLACK, FEMALE, AND UNDER 27 YEARS OLD. THE DRUG REPORTED MOST FREQUENTLY MISUSED IS ALCOHOL. OTHER DRUGS FREQUENTLY MISUSED ARE HEROIN, LSD, BARBITURATES, AND AMPHETAMINES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
