This podcast, hosted by the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP), discusses the 21st Century CURES Act.

Abstract

This podcast, part of the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program (or COAP) podcast series, delves into select components of the 21st Century CURES Act and provides details on how states and the public can provide comments on the proposed rule by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) to implement the CURES Act. The podcast, an interview with Elisabeth Myers, Deputy Director, Office of Policy at ONC, covers the 21st Century Cures Act, data exchange standards, and information blocking. The moderator is Patrick Knue, Director of TTAC. In her role at ONC, Ms. Myers is helping to lead the team implementing the provisions of the 21st Century Cures Act, which addresses a wide range of health IT provisions, from interoperable standards development to health IT for specialty settings and sites of service. She will also be leading the team at ONC for efforts related to the health IT provisions within the Support for Patients and Families Act, which was signed into law in 2018 to drive policy initiatives in support of opiate use disorder prevention and treatment.
