This report by the Michigan State Police Vehicle Test Team presents the results of tests on 15 vehicles and 7 motorcycles for the 2014 Model Year Police Vehicle Evaluation.
The Chevrolet vehicles tested are the Caprice 3.6L and 6.0L, the impala 3.6L, and Tahoe 5.3L. The Dodge vehicles tested are the 2014.5 Charger 3.07 3.6L, the Charger 2.65 5.7L, the Charger 3.07 3.6L, the 2014.5 Charger 2.65 5.7L, and the 2014.5 Charger AWD 3.06 5.7L. The Ford vehicles tested are the P1 Sedan FWD 3.5L, the P1 Sedan AWD 3.06 3.7L, the P1 Sedan AWD Ecoboost 3.5L, the P1 Utility AWD 3.7L, the 2014.5 P1 AWD Ecoboost 3.5L, and the 2014.5 P1 Utility AWD Ecoboost 3.5L. After presenting vehicle photographs and descriptions, test results are reported for vehicle dynamics, acceleration and top speed, braking, ergonomics and communications, and fuel economy. The scoring and bid adjustment methodology is described. The BMW motorcycles tested are the R1200RTP and the F800GTP. The Harley Davidson motorcycles tested are the FLHP (Roadking) and the FLHTP (Electroglide). The Moto Guzzi motorcycles tested are the California 1400 Touring ABS, the Norge 1200 ABS, and the Norge 1200 ABS Victory Commander. Following the presentation of motorcycle photos and descriptions, data are reported on the testing of dynamics, acceleration and top speed, and braking.
