This brief reports data from 20 grantees funded under the U.S. Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime's (OVC's) Enhanced Collaborative Model (ECM) to Combat Human Trafficking, as contained in the trafficking Information Management System (TIMS) for July 2015-June 2016.

Abstract

The ECM supports the development and improvement of multidisciplinary human trafficking task forces. These task forces implement collaborative approaches to combating all forms of human trafficking within the United States. Task force membership includes a variety of agencies and organizations with a role in combating human trafficking. They identify victims of all types of trafficking within specific geographic areas; investigate and prosecute all types of human trafficking cases at the local, state, tribal, and federal levels. They address the individual needs of trafficking victims by providing a comprehensive array of services. The primary services provided include provision of personal items, housing, ongoing case management, and emotional and moral support. The 20 program grantees reported serving 1,393 clients from July 2015 through 2016, with 787 being new clients. Percentages are also shown for each type of trafficking victim and by gender and transgender. Regarding types of trafficking victimization for those served, 82 percent were victims of sex trafficking and 20 percent were foreign national victims of labor trafficking.
