Abstract
This special issue of the Journal of National Defense Studies comes from a conference held in 2006 in Herzelia/Gelilot, Israel at the National Defense College. The principal organizers of the conference sought to bring together experts on terrorism from relevant countries to address the different legal, cultural, religious, and political dimensions of terrorism found among different locations and groups. The conference was co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice. The findings and conclusions of research reported in these articles focus on various perspectives of terrorism including Palestinian suicide terrorism, Palestinian women in terrorism, al-Qaeda, and the roles of women inside al-Qaeda.
