Since 1984, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP) has provided Federal leadership in developing the Nation's capacity to control crime and the criminal justice system. In this leadership role, OJP offers funding to State and local agencies through their discretionary (competitive) and formula grant programs. OJP funds are awarded through a competitive process in response to general and targeted solicitations and awarded to public and private agencies and private non-profit organizations. This is the discretionary grant program. Most OJP formula grants provide funding to State agencies, which may, in turn, subgrant funds to support relevant projects of local governments and private agencies. This report presents a listing of both discretionary grants and formula grants available through OJP. Under discretionary grants, a listing of grant programs offered under the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) and OJP are described. Under formula grants, a listing of grant programs are described which contain technology-related components.
