In response, the ASC National Policy Committee formed 12 task forces to explore the most critical criminal justice issues in the United States and to formulate policy recommendations based on major research findings. The task forces focused on youth violence, violence against women, community and problem-oriented policing, corrections and three strikes laws, drug control, and physical crime prevention.
