Review Panel on Prison Rape to Hold Hearings

      WASHINGTON — The Review Panel on Prison Rape will hold hearings in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, May 17, and Wednesday, May 18, 2022.  The purpose of the hearings is to identify common characteristics of rape victims and perpetrators in juvenile facilities with the highest and lowest incidence of rape.  The hearings are based on the BJS report, Sexual Victimization Reported by Youth in Juvenile Facilities, 2018.

TUESDAY, MAY 17, 2022, 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. EDT

      WHO:  Representatives from Gulf Academy (FL), Oak Creek Youth Correctional
                  Facility (OR) and Juvenile Corrections Center Saint Anthony (ID),
                  all identified as having a high prevalence of sexual victimization,
                  are scheduled to testify.

WEDNESDAY, May 18, 2022, 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. EDT

      WHO:  Representatives from Juvenile Center (TX) and W.E. Sears Youth Center (MO),
                  both identified as having a low prevalence of sexual victimization,
                  are scheduled to testify.
