BOOKLET FOR USE BY SOCIAL WORKERS AND PROBATION SERVICE WORKERS IN REQUESTING AN INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT REQUIREMENT AND PLACING A DELINQUENT OR DISTURBED CHILD IN AN APPROPRIATE PROGRAM.
Abstract
INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT REQUIREMENTS ARE ADJUNCTS TO COURT SUPERVISION ORDERS WHICH PROVIDE OPPORUNTITIES FOR A CHILD'S GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT IN AN ALTERNATIVE SOCIAL SETTING, AND ARE FOR USE ESPECIALLY IN CASES WHERE THE FAMILY SITUATION IMPEDES THAT GROWTH. DESCRIPTIONS, COSTS, AND REFERRAL PROCEDURES FOR EIGHT SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS BOOKLET, WHICH NOTES THAT INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT IS NOT INTENDED FOR SERIOUSLY DELINQUENT OR SEVERLY MALADJUSTED CHILDREN.
