This guide describes how to use Key Indicators software which provides a wide variety of up-to-date Bureau of Prisons (BOP) information.
Abstract
These data serve as "indicators" in the sense that they help keep tabs on key issues such as crowding, incident report rates, drug abuse, and educational programs in the BOP. The software can provide support for planning, auditing, and evaluation; furnish general information and statistical reports in both graphic and tabular report formats; and supply information on the effects of broad policy changes. It was designed with the understanding that many of its users may not be computer experts. The Key Indicators Data Pac contains a wealth of information on each BOP institution and includes general descriptive information about inmates and staff. Information on institutions includes data concerning admissions and discharges, average daily population, percent capacity, security classification, racial percentages, incident reports, significant incidents, drug testing, and educational programs.
