Abstract
THESE REQUIREMENTS ARE LISTED UNDER FIRE MAJOR HEADINGS: CRIME AND DELINQUENCY PROBLEMS, CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM CAPABILITIES, GOALS, EVALUATION, AND ACTION PROGRAM. THE REGIONAL OR METROPOLITAN CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLAN IS EXPECTED TO IDENTIFY LOCAL PROBLEMS AND NEEDS, ESTABLISH LOCAL GOALS, AND PLAN A MECHANISM FOR GOAL ACHIEVEMENT. IT SERVES TWO BASIC PURPOSES - TO BENEFIT UNITS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT BY PROVIDING EFFECTIVE PLANNING TO MOBILIZE RESOURCES AND ADVANCE CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT AND SUPPORT AND TO ASSIST TEXAS CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION IN DEVELOPMENT OF A STATEWIDE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLAN.
