FOUR 4-WEEK MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT SEMINARS FOR 120 COMMAND LEVEL STATE POLICEMEN FROM 6 MIDDLE ATLANTIC STATES WERE PLANNED, CONDUCTED AND EVALUATED.
Abstract
THE SEMINARS WERE PLANNED WITH THE INTENT OF INCREASING POLICE ADMINISTRATORS SKILL IN COMMUNICATING AND PROBLEM SOLVING, MANAGERIAL EFFECTIVENESS, ESTABLISHING POLICE COMMUNITY RELATIONS PROGRAMS AND SOLVING PROBLEMS OF POLICE ADMINISTRATION COMMON TO THE PARTICIPATING DEPARTMENTS. PROGRAMS WERE DIVIDED BETWEEN A 3-WEEK PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND A 1-WEEK WORKSHOP PROBLEM SOLVING SESSION. EVALUATION REVEALED THE PROGRAMS SUCCESS IN CHANGING PARTICIPANTS MANAGEMENT STYLES.
